I spoke to Transgo and was told the kit for my 700r4 will not keep the trans from shifting around corners. I've read some threads about people claiming the opposite. Can anyone with one of these kits give me some first hand experience?
I mean automatically downshifting when throttle is applied. If I have it in second I want it to stay in second no matter how hard I press the throttle.
Id rather not have a manual valve body because of the high line having adverse effects on the trans If not for that I'd be all over it.
-and a tranny swap isn't worth it anymore for early c4's (1987 700r4)

I had a Transgo kit when I ran a 700R4. I would place the selector in 2nd with the car in the burnout box. The tranny would start the burnout in second gear and remain there throughout the burnout. The tranny would not go into first. Something is not right with your setup.

Oh! Most people don't like it the other way, when the protection shifts it up.
That's TV pressure acting, shifting you down and bumping the line PSI.
If you want to avoid that most people do just go with the manual VB.
And yeah, you don't want to run one flat out on the PSI. It's hard on the pump. Not good for a street car.
FEATURES: Optional Stick Shift; or Gear Command with automatic upshifts; Holds 1st, 2nd and 3rd at any rpm. Backshifts to 3rd, 2nd and 1st at any rpm; Competition, Off road And Pro-street;
Which kit did you buy? Some of them defeat hydraulic protection and some of them do not.
The Transgo 2-3 kit claims to.. But that may not be true of others.
..... ... The Transgo 700 2&3 kit gives you gear selection capability ... put it in 2nd and it stays in 2nd ... in 3rd it stays in 3rd ... etc ..... It worked this way on mine ..... They (Transgo) make several kits for the 700R4 trans ... sounds like you got the wrong one ! .....

I'm just researching at this point. Good to know though, I'll give them another call.
After the engine mods the car will spin around if i apply too much throttle around curves. (because it downshifts) It's really irritating only being able to mash the pedal in the straights.

yeah. That's the one I was asked them about. Aparently it won't prevent downshifts

Weird. My 93 4l60 non E(700r4) will hold the gears in whatever position I place the shifter in. Stock rebuild as well. Confab and 383vett really know their stuff, you're in good hands
