Valve stem seal install tool
Ok so I'm asking a lot of questions along the way of my cam install but want to do it right, the first time...
Currently in the process of swapping springs and installing valve stem seals. I bought the OES factory style fel pro replacement seals but they did not come with an install tube. Not the thin protecting plastic that slides over the stem to prevent damage to the seal, but the plastic tube that goes over the stem and is made to hammer the seal in place.
I tired a small deep well socket but it contacted the valve stem tip before the seal seated. Even tried rotating the engine so the valve dropped a bit and the deep socket still contacted the tip before the seal seated.
Thinking of looking at be hardware store for a metal tube that is the correct diameter...any other ideas?

You have a Gen II LT1 engine and could pick up a used valve stem installer on Ebay. This is the one I used -
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kent-Moore-J...3D252161184103
I went out and checked in my garage. The J-42109 is the correct tool and the one I used on mine.
