so I changed my 2.59 Dana 36 to a 3.33 Dana 44 but will need to rebuild it. I'm going to go with 3.08 gears this time. I need to know what drive/driven gears to make the speedometer read correctly?
It has a electronic calibration unit from Dakota digital now but want to take it back off. Thanks.
I sent the vss I got originally back. Since I couldn't get the correct driven gear. So it looks like I will need to order it again along with the green 42.
A local guy who works on differentials said he could rebuild the Dana 44 with 3.08 gears, installed for $1700. Does that sound fair? Also said it would make some noise. No guarantee it would be quite. Should I get someone else to do it?

It is very loud. The guy who put it in for me said he checked it out and it was good. Of course that wasn't true cause I had the oil drained at another shop and it had water in it. So the guy lied to me. And cost me $.
So now I want it quiet and a rebuild is my only option it seems. The new gear oil didn't help quiet it down any.
