Default 86 Vette Speed Sensor Question

A previous owner caused the catalytic converter to over heat the speed sensor and wiring. No damage was done inside the trans but the sensor and the wiring where burned. I need a 25007224 VSS. I can't find it anywhere. The wiring and new connector are repaired. The one I bought was for a 2" opening and the original was 1-1/2" where the o ring is. This is for a base model vette with auto transmission and od with positraction. I need just the unit as shown without the gear. Any help appreciated.

Your VSS appears to be busted which was likely self-inflicted with the removal procedure. Where is the gear? I'm guessing still in the transmission with the rest of the VSS! The fact that the car is an AT and OD doesn't mean that you need the VSS that you mention. Do you know the color of the gear? Do you know the axle ratio? FOR SURE? NO GUESSES!!

What did you buy? A used from someone or what?

A correct VSS is a dimension very close to 2" - I've never measured but have done a few dozen or so.

Thanks for your advice, I will remove the rest of the VSS and go from there.

I called these guys and they were very helpful, steered me away from some of the replacement VSS on e bay. They didn't have the part. I need the wiring connector to go straight in instead of at a 90 degree angle. I guess I am looking for a good used part. Thanks for your help.

I sent you a PM with my email addy. I've done VSS and calibrations for quite some time.
