Default Flowmaster 40s on a 96 LT4??

I have heard a couple of youtube clips of late model c4s with the 40s and a resonator delete done. Im sold an want to buy a set but i cant find what the part number is for these mufflers. My hope is to use my stock tips to keep a factory look.

Any help would be appreciated

I don't think they have a direct fit 40 for any C4. My guess is that you need to buy the single inlet, dual outlet version and customize it to fit.

Or a single inlet, single outlet and your choice of tips. Either way the drone is going to be super annoying. I liked the way my car sounded when I had FM 40s, but I got really tired of the fillings be rattled out of my head.

Did you have any other exhaust modifications headers, x or h pipe ect?

Do you recall the orientation of the inlet and outlets on the muffler ie. Center center, center offset ect??

This is a "pick your poison" question....

If you are okay with lots of drone remove everything except for 40s....
If you are okay with some drone, remove your resonator, keep you cats and put on the 40
If you are OK with a bit of drone(with a bit of punch) put in a resonator with an "X"pipe and 40s and remove the cats.
If you want no drone.... leave it stock

I had a C5Z with loudmouths.. i aint skeered of noise or drone

I might switch to the ready made muffler eliminators. I know they will fit and give me the stock look that im after.

I have a spare LT4 exhaust that i bought on the cheap. Im going to replace the resonator with straight pipes as well as drill two half inch holes near the rear split to balance the exhaust. If it rattles my brain so be it and if its unbearable i wont be out a ton

Im picking the car up next week and its the first mod i plan on doing

I have the flowmasters with the resonator and hate the drone. Been looking for a stock cat back locally for a while.

I have an all stock 86 exhaust with Flowmasters, though Im not sure what series they actually are. I couldn't see any number on them. Little to no drone though and they have a nice deep sound... nothing obnoxious or dump truck sounding....

I think mine were offset in/center out. When I first put them on it had a hollowed center cat, pre-cats removed and stock manifolds on a semi-modded 350. Later it was true duals with an x-pipe, no cats and long tubes on a more modded 383. Either way it droned something fierce with the Flowmasters

With no changes other than Corsa mufflers, it is now enjoyable to drive. Its a little more quiet at idle than with the FM 40s, but wayyyyyy louder at WOT..........but still no drone.

I run a set of flowmaster 40's and dual 3in exhaust on my 85 car. The exhaust is noisy, I'm probably at some point going to change mufflers and/or add resonators. My 85 has a LQ9 engine with headers.

Idle isn't bad, but wot is quite loud. I don't even turn on the radio any more.

I have had Flowmaster 40's on my modified L98 for years. The drone takes getting used to with city driving. Long tube headers with Magnaflow cats the 40's. Drone is there but not too loud.

the flowmaster catbacks for C4s arent bad seem to me much quieter;delta flow 50s not too bad
The "original 40s" you are going to fn hate it.

Had a set of those on an 86 5.0 when they first came out, was young and loved "loud". After 30 minutes it was obviously a huge mistake.
If you want the effect of a cow moaning inside a metal trash can go for it thats how its going to sound all the time

I've been running a Flowmaster Force II cat- back on my 94 for over 20 years. Nice deep sound, not too loud, and very little resonance .

Ditto, tho I am torn on liking/not. Ricers don't try to 'F' with me at lights.

I went to a monster audio system for those occasions when that sweet hum of power..... well, some of you know! Lower cruising RPM has decreased the interior exhaust sound, a result of the ZF 6-speed.

Ah, I was just wondering, as a Cheesehead, how that would sound; never experienced it!

There's nothing complicated or anything that needs premade parts (other than the mufflers). Any muffler shop can install a couple of (short, two chamber) Flowmaster 40's onto your existing pipes, same for resonator delete (otherwise known as a couple feet of straight exhaust pipe), stock LT tips can be grafted onto the 40's

BUT WHY? you'll find the answer to THAT question soon enough.

LAF Loud as F
DLAMF Drone Like A * *

I ran them for like 6 months then switched to DynoMax mufflers. Still had a very nice tone with decent volume but no drone.
