How does your rod wiggle?
I was going over my engine, and I wanted to see how long of a slotted drill bit I will need to turn the oil pump rod to pre oil the engine. I noticed that the rod wiggles. It has about 1/2" of play in any direction. Is this normal or did I fudge something up?
Once a long time ago, I was putting a distributor in an engine and noticed that there was a great deal of play between the distributor housing and intake manifold. I machined a bushing to keep the clearance to a minimum. Well, it actually made the whole system bind up and I had to throw away the bushing. The distributor sort of finds its own center due to the tolerance stack up.
Congrats on 1000
But did you replace the coupling between the shaft & oil pump???
Always a good idea...These have a tendency to crack...They still work, but it gets even wobblier...
...When it breaks, and stops working...You'll know it... :D
