I have one reflowed, but have yet to install it.. as i found the same thread. I too verified the signals out of the CCM are correct, everything works, but the chime works only when it feels like it
I'm surprised you didn't bench-test it right after the re-flow job. Testing before and after the "repair" is pretty definitive as to whether you fixed it or not. Power and Ground, then ground each input. One makes it chime slow, the other quicker. Pretty simple to test.
I intend to do the same thing, but if I am not successful at repairing it, I have to leave the car torn apart waiting for a replacement chime; I have other things to do with the car, and am not going to R&R the pad twice.
Thank You for the reply.
I did, but it worked before and after. this is one I removed from my car. It worked great on the bench, just not in the car.. I seems better, I need to reflow the bigger metal piece but I did a bunch of other spots too, I did not do everything (which I suppose I could)
Is anyone aware of another GM vehicle (like a Cadillac or something) that has a similar module that I might be able to source in a pick-a-part? I know that by about 2000, the "chime" is in the radio head and triggered by Data, and won't work for a 90, but there may be 90's era GM's that have something that can be adapted to a C4.
Thanks
Anything can be adapted.. just depends how far you want to go.. I truly have to wonder if there is a component pulling too much current now causing it to not work. Maybe the control lines n the CCM are weak
