Default Modding for 1995 LT1 Corvette

Hello fellow Vette enthusiasts, I am an owner of a 1995 LT1 Corvette completely stock and am looking forward to doing some work under the hood. Listed below are the mods from the top of my head I intend to purchase in order to enhance performance of my vehicle.

-ARH long tube exhaust system, 1-3/4" x 3", no cats.
-AFR 195cc heads with 54cc chambers
-Comp Cams 07-468-8 XFI Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
-3000 stall torque converter
-3:73 rear gear
-Edelbrock 7107 RPM Air Gap Intake Manifold
-Holley Twin 58mm throttle body
-MSD 83811K2 LT1 Ignition Kit

I am open to any suggestions anyone may have. Might I be missing anything critical to the combination? Or in comparison to the parts listed might there be better options? either for more gains or cheaper and just as much performance. Let me know your thoughts or preferences. I figure this could make for a good build based on my research.

adding horsepower not only cost money put causes problems if not done right. Keep it stock you will be glad when time comes to trade or sell.

Thank you for your input, one of my biggest worries is making sure things are done right, the car is an absolute joy as is and is very sentimental. I have large aspirations on building a race car but at the same time it might be better saved for another car. I'll look into dyno tuning it though, thanks again gentlemen!

if you must put parts in it to enhance the fun factor,, go with a 307 rear end, maybe lifters and cam,,,, mild, hot cam type and tune it on a dyno, and leave it alone and enjoy, make sure any thing you do will not keep it from passing smog. Ps,,, changing to a lower rear end will give you the most bang for the buck..

Anyone notice he doesnt want it stock anymore? lol

There is no good reason to leave it stock, obviously it isnt doing it for you so go ahead with things, sounds good so far.
You can really benefit going to a solid roller at this point, if you choose to stay HR it will still make a lot of power though; well over 400 to the ground

If hes buyig quality parts and assembling things right no reason it wont hold up for a long time

This is not a DD so really it's all about the fun factor for me in the end. I really appreciate your feed back and I have a set of Comp Cams hydraulic roller lifters in mind!

Just my 2 cents: I wouldn't still own my C4 if it was stock. Modded for nearly 15 years and still very reliable.

-ARH long tube exhaust system, 1-3/4" x 3", no cats.
-AFR 195cc heads with 54cc chambers
-Comp Cams 07-468-8 XFI Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
-3000 stall torque converter
-3:73 rear gear

The rest is not really needed. You might also want to contact "rklessdriver" to see if he would spec you a better camshaft.

My best advice is "before" you lay a wrench on it find a "good tuner" to work with you before during and after the build. I found this out the hard way after building my engine and it took a long time to find a competent Dyno tuner in my neck of the woods that had the knowledge to dial in the driveability for the street and a second tune for the track.

DO NOT BUY THE EDELBROCK INTAKE! They flow less then your stock LT1 intake. Either leave it stock or have it port matched to your AFRs. The cam you picked is rather large for a 350. I don't think a 3k stall converter will be enough. That cam is going to want to shift close to 7k rpm to get maximum hp. Give this guy a call: http://elliottsportworks.com/. He can spec you a cam that will work perfectly with your set-up. You have to watch those XFI cams. They have been known to wear out springs quiet rapidly.

Just remembered, the 195s use LT4 castings. You will need the Edelbrock. You might want to have it ported because they do not flow very well.

Or save your money for future opti repairs

But in all honesty its your car and your choice ...its pros and cons either way....at the end of the day as long as you are happy with your choice that is all that matters.... Good Luck!!!

.But like I always said,,, everyone has an opinion

My opinion leave it alone and enjoy it!!!!!

Do you recommend a better intake manifold that will complement the Heads. I've looked but haven't seen many manifolds that fit.

There are 3 options:

*You can go ahead and buy the Edelbrock and have it port matched to the heads.

* If there is a fab shop around your way, they can add some aluminum to your existing intake to compensate for the raised intake ports of the AFRs.

* You can give Lloyd Elliot a call, and send your heads and intake to him. He will port your castings and match it with a cam. This would be the better financial and more efficient option.

I also own a '95 LT1. If you upgrade the throttle body is there anything else that needs to be done in addition to that for HP gains?

All of these comments are a lot of work. I would just put a supercharger kit on it so it is still stock, and add 100-150 hp. Plus maybe gears. All done in a couple of weekends, and you can take it all off very easily.

The AFR 195 heads are not cast for the LT4 intake manifold, the LT1 manifold works perfectly fine. I installed the 195's 2 years ago.
