Sled's new motor took out the transmission in fairly short order. The old setup was a 700r4 with a few extra clutchpacks and a stock range torque converter.
While specing out the new setup, I aquired a TCI 9/11 converter with a 2800 stall for a pretty good price.
Art Carr has a special on hi-po 700r4's that include a 9.5 Billet converter.
If that's the route I take, I'll have one too many TC's (Actually, two TC's and a dead 700r4.) that I'll have to do something with.
Any suggestions on what would make one Converter better than the other? Any comments on Art Carr's products?
I did some induction work on a guys Z-28, he is running a 468ci BBC, 570hp/535tq, he had put 2 local trans shop 700r4s that were "highly modified" in this camaro in 7 weeks! He drives it to and from work, cruises on the weekend, and runs at the strip 2-3 times a month. He ordered a Art Carr 700r4 and Art Carr tq convertor and has since put 2 summers use on it with absolutely no problems! :D He says it shift nice and firm, and has yet to skip a beat. That is the only Art Carr products I've heard from, and he definiately says it is a very good product. Good luck.
