Just got my car back from a nitrous install. The arming and purge switch were put on the lower side of my dash bezel (against my instructions, but that's another story). Anyway, I notice the right half of the digital cluster is so dim that I can hardly see it. Coincidence? I think not, but then again I could be wrong........thats happened to me before
The work was done by a well known and highly respected Vette shop here in my area. When I picked the car up yesterday, the owner of the shop told me that was typical of bulbs when they're going out. I bought that at the time, but the more I think about it, the more skeptical I feel. I'm thinking: it sounds like a grounding issue. I didn't have a problem before and they DID have the bezel off for the switch install..... Hummm......
Has anybody experienced an extremely dim display and determined the cause of their problem? Could the bulb(s) really go dim when they're going out?
On the positive side of the coin, HOLY SMOKES  This car hauls booty now :D :D What a difference just a 100 shot is!!! Just in time for our local dyno day tomorrow too
Hey Tim, this may sound obvious, but if they accidently turned the headlight/dimmer switch, that would make the dash lights look dim. If they took the dash bezel off, then they would have had to pop off the top off the headlight switch, and they could have rotated it while taking it off or putting it on. I'd check that first. I've blown dash bulbs before and its obvious (dark), plus they all don't blow at the same time. When I replace 1, its slightly brighter then the rest, but not much.
Congrats on the NOS!!!, but that car is still missing something... maybe a set of Chrome ZR-1 Wheels perhaps :yesnod:
Nice talking to you the other day :flag

Re: Dash cluster dim. Coincidence? (Triple Black 88)
Thanx Bro. Yeah, a set of wheels WOULD help, at least they'd give me some peace of mind
The bulb thing is just on the right half of the cluster (the tach side). The other half, the speedo side is normal. Actually, I thought about that this morning when I first woke up. I went out in the garage and fired it up, but the dimmer is rotated up all the way.
My g/f thinks I'm crazy, goin' out there before my shower and coffee, but the thought just hit me and I figured it would be prudent to see my RPMs if I was using NOS
BTW, chrome ZR repros would look pretty fine on a triple black too, huh? Keep me posted, OK?
Re: Dash cluster dim. Coincidence? (Triple Black 88)
does the dig dash actually dim and brighten? I had always thought
that it adjusted to the amount of light. I rotate my dimmer switch
and the dash looks the same. It always has been not that bright.
do you think something may be wrong with mine? Never been in
another C4.
