Thee is a seal on the filter adapter. You can purchase a new seal, but beware that some are paper thin. Almost look like a steel shim. I ended up making my own with gasket material that I had that was about 1/16" thick.
One of the issues with the adapter is that the screws are often to long or the tapped hole is two short. So the screw bottoms out in the hole and the adapter is not tight against the block even with the seal. So the solution seems to be a thicker seal or grind a little of the bolts.

Yeah this leak is pretty recent. Thanks! Is the seal hard to replace?
There is also an oil pressure sensor right above the filter adaptor. If that leaks it will travel down the filter. Inspect carefully.
The filter adaptor gasket is super simple. Take the filter off and there are two hex screws holding the filter adaptor to the block. Remove that and the gasket will be revealed. Make sure you scrape the old one off and clean well before putting the new one on. There is also a large rubber o-ring that should be replaced as well.
While I agree with 9T3Vette that in theory - the oil filter adapter gasket is easy to replace - the reality may be a touch different. On my '92 - the old gasket was rather well attached to the engine block. It took well over an hour and a multiple strings of profanity before the old gasket remnants were removed from the block. (You're typically lying on your back - with your arms up in the air during this job). After the last of the old gasket remnants were removed - yes - an easy job. Let's just say that my arms were more than a little sore the next day, but the new gasket was in there....

Thanks for info. Sounds doable, just annoying to do What did you use to get the old gasket off? Just razor blades?
with 9T3VETTE. Not difficult. His directions are good. I used a razor blade in a blade holder to remove the old gasket. Trying to use just the blade without a holder is a PITA.
Ok guys, got under the car. Hope these pics are good to tell if it is the oil filter adapter or not. Also, pics of the leaking oil drain plug. Just buy a new oil plug?
It might not be the drain plug if the oil leak above from the filter area is running down the pan. It will collect at the lowest point the plug. The photo shows it is damp which may be wind blown and spread around but look up the pan to see if it is coming down from above.
Just go to Advanced or Autozone and get a new drain plug with washer. Problem solved there.
The oil filter adapter could be leaking, appears to be coming a little higher up. I think at this point you should get everything clean with your favorite degreaser and go for a 20 mile drive or so and then check after it cools down. If it is the adapter its an easy fix.

Hmm good point, thank you.

So I'm not the only one with an oil drip... I have pretty much the same issue with my 95. I did a motor swap and it came with a drip and it looks just like yours. I checked the filter and it was good. I then pulled off the adapter. The new motor had an o-ring gasket on it that just fell off as I removed the adapter. I took the one off the old motor, that didn't leak, and it had an orange silicone seal on it that is about 6 or 7mm thick. I put the old adaper on it and no more leaks. Going to the GM dealer in Vegas today to see if I can get a new silicone one.
Mine also had a drip that was coming from the threaded plug on the adapter. If I get a new gasket I will put the original back on and see if it is actually dripping from the plug also. Looking at your pic's yours does not seem to be leaking. Nice pictures by the way.

Thanks! Do you mean the adapter doesn't seem to be leaking, or the adapter bolts don't seem to be leaking? I know 9t3vette mentioned the oil sensor on top of the filter. But Damn I don't see it. I know there are two behind the intake manifold, which are dry. Hope you are able to get the silicone one!

It's up there, gotta really get up in there to see it.
It's also possible your front seal is leaking slightly, then running down the pan towards the drain plug and collecting. From the pictures it looks like the pan is wet. Mine had a similar leak before the cam install and after replacing all of the front cover gaskets it's dry now.
Just went to the chevy dealer and did some research. The seal and gasket are available for 6 bucks so I got one. The adapter is not. Looks like mine has a crack at the 1/4 plug so it leaks there. Not really sold on that. I'm going to pull the plug out and put some thread sealer on it. The sensor is rigjt above where the ground wires are bolted. Sucks to get to.

I got a better look under the car today. Found the sensor. Felt pretty dry there. Just dirt. I have to agree it is the front seal. Going to hold it off until December when the driving season is no fun.
