This thread has some great pics of the routing of the fuel lines.

I was thinking the same thing! Go to page 4 for the best pics, IMO.

The fuel line is one piece from the tank to the filter. What or how far "rear" are you needing to replace? You could probably get it all w/only the rear bumper removal.

Start soaking those little studs with penetrating oil like pb blaster. They break off.The main suppy hose is has a crimp instead of clamps but you can cut that off.If you think your fuel pump might be on its way out now is the time.

Thanks for the pictures, from the pictures I'm worried the gas tank need to be dropped too. the fuel line from the gas tank down need's to be replaced and the return. along the frame rail the line looks good shape, looks like a big job!

The gas tank would likely need to be removed...but it's not that hard.

How were you going to mate the old line, to the new segment? I agree w/the comment above about using flexible line. That would be way easier and should work fine, if secured decently.

i have read people saying the rubber. reaks down but....its upstream of the filter and i cant imagine quality braided line being sold today whose rubber breaks down.

The connection to the stock sending unit is rubber and has lasted 20+ years.

Nylon fuel line is the way to go. The only issue I see is hooking it up to the barbs on the fuel pump assembly.
