Hi, Guys this is not really a tech issues but I replaced my radio from a 86 to 84 c-4 ... seem to work fine but no volume .... is that a speaker problem or radio...Thanks for your time
Not all radios are interchangeable. If you switched from Bose to non Bose or visa versa that would be why. Bose system is component head, receiver, and speakers with amps. Amps have there own power relay and fuse. Base radio is just radio with speakers.
You give us little to go on, but any audio system has 2-3 stages of amplification which, in consumer units, are contained in one box. The Bose separates the pre-amp from the amplifiers, which are internal to each speaker box, and employs a different signal level than most aftermarket units.
As you replaced the head unit, was the reason an identical problem, i.e., same failed channel?
Temporarily swapping connections from a working speaker to the inop one, will tell you if the speaker assembly or head unit that's the problem.

Hi, This is what I did I had it in my 86 and it played great I total the 86 out bought a 84 it didn't have a radio in it.. so you know I took parts off the 86 and put on the 84.. it plays but no volume its a Bose.. hate to put a off brand it it.. looks good with original vette radio.. any way I could make this one work.... Thanks for your time
OK, my guess is that the 84 was not a Bose with amplified speakers. Can you take out one of the rear speakers and see if it has 4 wires going into it? The Bose speakers have 2 power wires and two low level input wires.
