Think you have tranny problems??
I'll bet him ten dollars (Or as much as he wants) that the drum he is holding would have passed an air check.. Meaning the problem is somewhere else.
2) The Sun Shell is a problem. They're mild steel (Now they have hardened splines) and they "walk" The center of the transmission doesn't spin true.. Especially after wear.
You can see that GM realized this in the 4L60/5 units, as they use a (very large) rollerized bearing for the back sun.
They realized walking is a problem and they addressed it. You can improve on this by using a wide bushing in the back sun, and adding a hardened shell. Along with the big 4L60/5 bearing and annulus.. Because that will retro into earlier versions.
3) He gets close, but newer converter programming actually slips the clutch during apply for purposes of creature comfort. The rule is that older units (Typically with a paper clutch) can just flat shut the TCC mod valve off with no penalty.
Newer units (Woven lining) should REALLY be using the Sonnax Regulator Mod valve he shows there.
IMVHO.
