Were factory guide plates for push rod assembly installed on all LT-1's??

Some people say that they were on LT1's to help aid engine assembly. I say that's crap because the LT1 F-bodies don't have them. Factory LT1's have self aligning rockers and the pushrods are not hardened and they do not come into contact with the guide plates. So I honestly don't know why the Vette's had them when other LT1's don't.

One of those little mysteries.

Dave Emanuel in his book "Small-Block Chevy Performance mentions the non-hardened guide plates on the L98 that were only to hold the push rods during assembly.

For what it is worth, mine did not have guide plates.

So you think it might be a good idea for a 500+ HP motor with roller rockers??
