yeah, I'm going to go with one of the three I mentioned(EM, TPiS or Melrose), I just wanted opinions on clearance, our cars are low to begin with

What is the difference between the EM and the Melrose unit? Or even ARH? How is the fit and access after the installation? I know TPIS is easy to install and plugs are easy to get to. Unfortunately they may not be around so....

not sure, but those three seem to have the most positive reviews on the forum

I agree,my ARH fit like a glove, and no ground clearance issues. Spark plug changes are a snap and they were easy to install.

Are plugs and other stuff easily accessible?

The headers I'm looking at are all around $700 coated

ARH is $1627 and I don't need the extra stuff (cats, x-pipe, etc). I had to check...

Hello... Have a question, was there any problems with the fitment or installation at all. I'm looking to purchase some, not really sure what to get. Thanks Kc

I don't recall ever having any fitment issues.

I have 2149s on my car also so I'll chime in. Initial fitment wasn't a problem and ground clearance is fine. Spark plug accessibility is also not a problem. You will not be able to retain you factory AC/alternator braces unless you fab something up. I did fab a brace for my alternator, but I haven't gotten around to fabbing something up for the AC compressor (so far it's been fine without it). Another issue is the Hooker ceremic coating doesn't last long. Mine were fairly rusty on the bottom portions and had to be re-coated after about 10k miles. Finally the rear, passenger side header bolt is a royal PITA is get to. I've had mine on/off a few times and that bolt always takes me as long as the rest of the bolts combined. Not sure if other brands are any better.

If I were to do it again I'd probably go with TPIS headers. They have bosses for the mounting holes so you'd be able to use your factory braces. That being said, considering the lower purchase price, I've been fairly happy with the Hookers.

I have Melrose on my car and I love them, they go right up in to place, no clearance issues at all. I also have Melrose complete cat back to mufflers exhaust and it all but installed itself. They are 3" then narrow to 2 1/2 by the differential. The coating still looks great after the 9 years+ I have had them. They tuck up in the tunnel and even though my car sits super low, I have never scraped them. Melrose makes their own right at their facility then farm them out for the coating. The flanges are 3/8 inch and the head side of the flanges have no weld bead, they seal great and all I ever use is cheap paper gaskets.
