Thinking down the road a little ways after the LT4 hotcam goes in... I'm planning on some form of better flowing exhaust system. After hearing the flowmasters on Biz's ZR1 today I was quite impressed with the sound. I don't want the entire flowmaster system cause I want to retain the LT1 tips. I'm thinking of running either 40 or 50 series Deltaflows... now for the questions.
If I go with just the mufflers, what ones to go with... 2.5 inlet/outlet or 3.. not sure since the factory piping in 2.75.
I'm also thinking about having a the exhaust shop remove the factory resonator and put an X-pipe in place... this would leave stock manifold/cats in place, X-pipe then the deltaflows... anyone have a similar setup or thoughts on this setup
I got the Flowmaster catback system on the 91 ZR-1 sounds great and will sound even better when the headers are installed. The cats get to go because we have no smog police here. I think 2.5 would work for a stock or slighty modified motor, and 3.0 would be better for a more radical motor. Just my two cents. I believe Biz has headers installed on his Z now, that definately wakes up the Flowmasters. Good luck 84 CF 91 ZR-1
You've been on the forum long enough to know better....FLOWMASTER'S.......of course.....
If that was the case... it'd be Corsas :) They are the best looking system I think, but I want to retain the stock tips and I'm still not 100% sold on the way they sound... althou the no resonance is wonderful with them. I think i can have a local shop build me a system using flows and my stock tips for less then any system i can buy pre-built.
I guess I could have a place custum bend the pipes from the resonator back... but which is better... 2.5 pipe madrel bent or 2.75 stock with the waffel bends?
And what would the benifit be taking the resonator out and putting in an X-pipe?
I think that with the resonator out and the X-pipe in place you will get resonance. Hence the name, Resonator :D
I drove around quite a bit after I Left Mark's place last night. I was experimenting with different RPM in different gears and I still could not get any drone inside the car. I am very, very pleased with the Flowmasters. The Corsas look better, but I don't think they sound half as good. But that's just my opinion.
Headers and Flowmasters makes BiZ go :D  :D  :D  :D
Hey you guys that are in Pinellas County, where do you get parts and work done on your car?
Quite a few of the parts I have bought have been Forum realted. Headers were bought from a Forum member as were the Flowmasters. Smaller parts can be had at Autozone. I had the Flowmasters put on at Rainbow Muffler on Belcher road, Ron is the man to see. I put the headers on myself. For any type of motor work I am not willing to tackle myself I try to goto Vern's Chevy Service Center on East Bay Drive. But luckily for me I have not had any real motor problems (wood:smash:). I had Vern do a water pump for me on my Z and some ABS work on my prior 86.
hey guys the corsas do look good but the flows will perform looks or performance the choice is yours good luck with either system i personally would go 3 inch in dual 2.5 inch out nothing but badddddddd :D
