Default under car restoration

1994 base - I am going to be replacing as much as I can of suspension components and cleaning up under the car as it has 154,000 miles and none of this has been done. I'm looking for any advice as to a good order of doing things. Like, I know doing the half shaft U-joints and the rear tie rod ends will be done together because they need it and you have to remove the tie rod end to get the half shafts out. That's the kind of advice I'm looking for. I'm planning on replacing bushings, brakes, rotors, U joints, tie rod ends, shocks. What else should I look for? Thanks!

Unfortunately the Photobucket issue with not showing images affect it, but there's a thread I used when I was working on my 86's rear end: http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...d.php?t=144562

Hopefully it's useful without the images. It helped me a lot while doing my car.

inspect the c beam for elongated or egg shape mounting holes; examine the webbing structure on the transmission tailshaft housing and the forward end of the differential where the C beam mounts up to for cracks; consider purchasing (or fabricating) C beam mounting plates;

separate the differential from the batwing and install a 1/8th inch pipe plug for a drain;

replace the rear seal in the transmission tailshaft housing;

is the differential front seal leaking? if it is replace it or have it replaced; same for the axle seals;

You can usually see the images by right clicking on them and selecting "show image in a different tab".. A pain but it seems to work.

Before you pull the wheels check for play and if you need to replace the wheel bearings you want to do the rears when you pull the half shafts out.
If you have the time look around for the two volume set of the factory service manual for the 94.

Check brake lines for rust. NAPA has brake lines with a black polymer coating.

If detailing the floor pans & frame: I now use Rustoleum 2X satin black rattle cans it is a close match to factory chassis black. Ventilate your shop & wear a mask when spraying it.

Simple Green & 0000 steel wool work well on aluminum chassis components.

Good luck
