tinting your C4...
Well im deciding if i want to get tints or not... the only problem is i live in Des Plaines (suburb of Chicago) and tints are illegal... Lots of people still have tints but i dont want to give cops any other excuse just to pull me over... i was wondering how dark u guys tinted your rear and sides and can u still see in?... i was thinking of just going light all the way around? Anyone have any pics of there C4 tinted?? thanks guys :cheers:

No pics of my tint, but I went the legal limit all the way around. Here the limit is 35%. Cost $150 and the rear hatch is done in 3 pcs.!! :eek: Can't see any seams!!

I honestly dont know the legal limit in Chicago?? does anyone? with 35% all the way around.. can u still see in or is it dark?? :cool:

With 35% you can still see in. KY has a 35% law for front side windows also, but that is irrelavent to me. I chose limo tint. :D If I get pulled over for anything I immediately lower both windows and if it happens to be at night I turn on interior lights so you can see in. This is to give the cop one less thing to think about. On a side note a friend was driving my old CRX in Ohio with limo tint and a female officer pulled him over and told him he either needed to scrape off the tint or she would give him a ticket. Needless to say I was pretty happy to see my tint scraped off. :mad

Here's my '88. I don't remember what the % is.......but it's on the light side. I did it to reduce the solar radiation inside the car to keep it cooler. It really does a great job.

I have limo(3 or 5%) all around. I wouldn't have it any other way. I used to have the metallic film on it...It honestly looked better with the red. Limo or medium(dyed) looks sweet!

No too rain on your parade... but if it is illegal, don't give them a reason to ruin your day of funn. Because in the event that you do get challenged to remove it and the back window defogger is scratched or scraped in anyway by removing the film, it will not work - ever. Just a thought. Good luck!

it only illegal to tint the driver and passenger side windows.... its ok to tint the rear window... But dont u think it would look funny with just the rear hatch tinted? :confused:

My white 95 had 5% on the sides and rear, the 96 has 5% on the sides and 20% on the rear... the car will have 5% all the way around as soon as the tint guy gets the stripper to take the 20% tint off the rear hatch. I'm even putting a 5% strip on the windsheild to cut down on the glare... but here in FL they don't bother you at all with dark windows.
My GN I use to have had the sides and rear window tinted down to 1%... measured by a cops meter on 5 different occasions :)

Someone posted a thread a while back with the tint limits allowed for each state..I love dark tint....apparently it depends on the cops where you live how hard they crack down...I need to move over by you Jim...in this stupid city they ticketed my 79 year old Mom for 20% on the side windows.. :mad ..

on my 93 they are 5% all the way, though they need to be redone, they will be 5% again, with 30% all teh way down the windshield :eek: . Screw legal

It's illegal to tint the passenger and driver side window here in CA too..but I tinted them to 32% and you HONESTLY can't tell. I also tinted my rear window to 20% (I wished I would have done 6% now though!)

I dont know what the tint on mine is, but id bet money its about 20%. You can still see in when up close.
Tinting the hatch window does mess with your rear view mirror at night though. Hard to see out the back.
