Ok guys, hood opener tools don't work for this. Took the car down to a friends body shop, he swore he could open it in minutes..he couldn't. Even tried channel locks on the cable, no dice. So, I believe the latch is just plain stuck or jammed. I have removed the inner fender liner to access the latch from beneath. Now, how do I do it>? Oh, pulled battery out to . I NEED in there. Master cyclinder starting to act like seals or getting worn ( slow leak down), and Power steering pump is starting to leak. I need that damn thing open b4 it gets cold. thsnks for looking

hey ghoast. can you get in oiler can with a 50-50 mix of automatic transmission fluid and acetone into the latch area? You may need a piece of clear vinyl tubing pushed over the end of the oiler can as an extension but if the assembly is jammed you can squirt this stuff up there and it is guaranteed to loosen it. With no visibility it may go all over the place but I think that's an acceptable side effect at the moment.
then you want to pull on the cable again with the channel locks well somebody uses their fist to pound on the hood like a vibrating it as it's being pulled?
i'd probably retry the guy who was able to get is channel locks on the cable
Use a wrench to loosen(very loose) the 2 outward bolts (you probably wont reach the back one) holding the latch, then take a long screwdriver and pry outward. At this point you should be able to move it a bit. That is how I got mine to unbind.
Good Luck
Thanks for the replys guys. Yes, had a friend put vise grips on the cable as I pushed/pulled on the edgae of the hood..nothing. I have used the "hood pop tool", no luck. ( I knw how to use it, did the other side last year,(learned a lot). I have pulled the battery cover, the battery, inside wheel liner and almost all ,of whats left of my hair ,out. Power steering pump is almost out of fluid, but worse, brake master cyc. is starting to kinda leak down telling me its time to replace or rebuild. getting colder here in Indy, like to get the damn thing open b4 really cold air hits. Again, thanks for the replys guys.
