Default Need new fuel injectors

Been reading about high performance fuel injectors for replacement. What does the pound per hour rating mean? I’m not much of a mechanic and want to purchase the right parts for my 91 stock coupe.

Thanks,
Bernie

https://fuelinjectorconnection.com/c...3-injector-set

That is about all you need if you are stock. Bigger won't mean squat at best and at worst, cause problems. At full duty cycle, it will give 24 pounds of fuel in 1 hour, I suspect.

Why don't you tell us what you want to do with the car? Budget?

Do not change the injector size.Best to do business with FIC.He has some good vids up on you tube regarding spray pattern/atomization .Technology has moved along and the newer Bosch type 3 injectors seen to atomize fuel better. You only need to change injector size if you have more hp than stock .Then the ecm will need a reflash.

The injectors have gone bad and are giving me problems when I am at idle or try to accelerate. I don’t really need to add to the HP of the car and wanted to make sure that I bought the correct parts before I did the project. Looks like major surgery from the videos I saw.

Thanks for the advice. I was planning on buying Accel injectors instead of remanufactured ones.

While you are there, do the fuel pressure regulator. Much easier than doing it later.

Unless you have a unique injector that they don't have, I'd spring for a set of reman stock size every so often. Costs as much to clean and they do get crudded up. I don't use snake oils to clean so I send mine out every few years.

Good advice. My mechanic told me to stay away from Bosch because their quality has gone down over the years. Is this still the case?

I'm not sure if that is true or not. Check it out with Jon, Witch Hunter, RC Engineering and other places that do fuel Injectors for a living

Looking back, I think you are right. Got it confused with cars with the other one. Weird it is for the 85 only and other stuff but not the rest of the L98 bunch

Crap. I just ordered a set of 24lb injectors and a fuel pressure regulator from RC Engineering. Is that going to make a big difference in the running of the vehicle?

I think 22 or 24 won't make too much of a difference. If we stuck 30 in, maybe not.

You are speed density. It should not matter for that difference. I ran 24's in mine when pretty much stock. 1990 is also speed density.

Larger causes a problem and map cars will change more things.

I went from stock up to 60lb injectors in my car depending on set up.

Put it this way, a guy here made something like 800hp IIRC on 32lbs, but I think that is really relying on a lot of tuning. Pretty small for my taste at that leve.

Stock is stock and should be fine. Lt1 cars had 24 IIRC.

They show 3 possibilities for the 86 model year for 22lb injectors... which ones would go in my 86? The stainless bottom ones look closest to what the OEM look like...

I just called and asked him what injectors. If running ethanol you may want to go with stainless. I am not using it so went with the rebuilt Bosch. Good idea on the regulator. Anyone have a favorite one they like?
