shift **** removal
Having had C4's before, I've had no trouble removing the 'key' in the shift **** to remove it. 2 screwdrivers basically did the trick. This new 92 I just bought is another story. Ive tried the screwdrivers, vise grips etc and cannot get it to move at all. Short of drilling it out- does anyone have any ideas to help? Thanks in advance

not much experience with the manual shift *****. somehow that thing is frozen in place - either someone pounded it in for a tight fit, or it's somehow corroded from old age. drawing a blank here since you tried all the normal removal techniques. if you can get some sort of a solid grip on the thing, maybe try a small slide hammer and gently try to work it out with a series of reverse taps. the "key" (no pun intended - ), is to get a grip on the thing. good luck....

I drilled and tapped mine, now I use a steering column pivot pin puller when I need to remove it. It's easy to do on the car, it's mild steel and drills easily. Just try to stay in the center and it will be reusable Drill, tap and you'll never have trouble removing it again.

I've had a couple sticky ones.
I used a vise grips, but I couldn't get it by hand. I had to tap the vice grip with a hammer (upwards) to get it to release. I think the sharp impact is what broke it loose.
Usually I can just pull them up with the vise grip. but once in a while they are tough.
Good luck.
