Default What is this opti cable for?

This came with my new opti?
Can't figure out what it is for. The opti is the one that starts life as an MSD but gets a new Mitsubishi sensor and a vent kit.

Isn't that the cable that connects from the 4 pin connector on the opti to the 4 pin connector under the passenger side engine/FI cover?

It looks like it but the car already has one. Is it normal to replace the cable?

They probably figure as long as you are in there you might as well change it. I think most optis do not come with the cable, so that is a bonus. I would ohm it out and if connectors look good on both ends change it and keep the old as a spare. I think you got the same kit I did which came with 2 types of venting kits, one of his own design.

I thought a '92 required an adapter harness anytime that it was replaced with a later '93+ opti. An MSD I thought always required it. EFI sold it as a separate component. If your '92 already has a later opti then it certainly could be "extra"!!

Well, went to ohm out the cable and realized there was no reason to.
The car cable and supplied cable are not even close
In these pictures the car cable is on left.
Opti end

Harness (intake side) end
