The Doug Nash 4+3 transmission was working flawlessly on my 85 until I had to replace my radiator. The lower transmission cooling line was was seized to the original radiator an broke. So I replaced it with a new fitting and section of rubber coolant line for repair. Since then the overdrive wont engage. The light comes on but that is it. Does that line need to be solid?
The line doesn't really need to be solid but did you refill the OD unit after replacing that part of the line? By coolant line, do you mean a hose suitable for ATF or power steering fluid? Get some regular ATF and top off the unit and see if that brings it back.

Thank you I did not top it off, I will give that a shot though.

That was the problem, refilled the pan and working smoothly once again.
