The large braided wire is a ground strap, they are needed for good clean power in your electrical system. The black wire is a shady example of how not to ground something. Treace the small wire back to its origin and see what its too. If it is needed ground it to the end of the ground strap with an O-ring connector and a wire brush.

Trace the unknown back it may be a Redundant Ground from a General/other Application Antenna.

That is actually the ground strap for the antenna, definitely move that "extra" ground wire to the chassis. You are probably causing an issue with radio interference like that

The small wire is a floating ground plan for the antenna. It is factory upgrade to improve the reception. There are a couple of these. They are floating and are not suppose to be grounded to the frame that I remember

Just did the power antenna on my '96 and can confirm - there are wires coming from the antenna that just dead-end -- the one in the fender well is attached to a small xmas tree type clip that goes into the frame to hold it in place.

This is correct and I believe there's actually four. All should be BLK/WHT
