Have you tried the websites for Autozone, Pep Boys and Wrenchhead.com? I have ordered from them and I received the perts fast. I was able to buy my 180 at the local parts store. I would not run a 160 since the car probably not be able to maintain the 160 with the stop and go traffic. I like the 180. I have found from testing at the track that the 180 was better for lower ET's on my stock 89 Vette. When I ran the car at 160 it was a little slower all around (60 foot, 330 and so on).

I ordered one from ecklers. we'll see if I get it by this weekend.
160 on your TPI motor is too cool, this is the LT4, and I not doing it for ET, just to run cooler.

You can special order them from Autozone. You may have to have them look it up for an LT1 rather than an LT4 motor though. It is the same part.

Good question. I would imagine you could get any thermostat for the L98 being it is based on the standard 350. That being said, you could probably get one for $12-14 if not less. The ones for LT1 motors are usually close to $20.

The LT1's can not use a standard thermostat because they have a reverse flow cooling system that flows in the opposite direction than a standard 350. It cools the heads first then the lower block. This gives the LT1 some of it's power advantage.

Went through the same problem. Hypertech (made by autorad) is the only 160 available. For most auto stores it was either not available or a special order. I bought mine at Summit. Hypertech actually discouraged me from buying direct because their S&H charge would make the total cost about $40. Price should be about $19.
