Hey guys, I have a 94 vette and i'm just wondering what this thing is. Its makes a loud wining noise and shuts off once the car is warmed up. It just sparked my curiosity today. Thanks

That is your Air Injection Reactor pump, A.I.R. for short. The bearings wear out or the motor can burn out on them. If you're in an emission compliance area you need to replace it. Your car will pass a sniffer without it but it is an emission device so you could fail a visual.
