I've done several transmission cable replacements. The main thing to be careful about is don't tighten the 15mm nut on the gear lever with the shifter in Park. If the trans moves into another gear it will break the shifter cable.

Thanks cliff, I knew you would know. Now tell me why the thing won't go into park. shifts real easy, but won't go into park..strangly, it starts if the gearshift is in park, but instantly starts to back up....and idea??
