My 1992 lt1 corvette idles in park ok exhaust smells acidic. Runs good in gear gets up and goes. When I half to stop at light at idle some times it shuts off. Chevey dealer said there are no codes. What could be causing this I am new to car and your blog.
..... Check the fuel pressure regulator's vacuum hose for any signs of liquid gasoline ... or , a possible faulty fuel injector , IAC valve , minimum idle setting , TPS , etc. .....

If you don't have one, and it sounds like you don't, find a scanner capable of reading live data from the ECM. I would suspect that your Throttle Body is dirty. You will have to remove it and the IAC and the IAC housing to clean the passages and then reset it.
I have mine(TB) off and was going to clean it up vs buy a $330 BBK TB. What do you mean by reset it?
I'd take the top plate off and the IAC out and the IAC housing out and clean the passages. Reassemble with new gaskets and probably do the coolant bypass at the same time.
I'd get it to stable operating temperature and shut everything but the motor off. Check the IAC counts and turn the adjustment screw in or out based on the counts. More counts mean the ECM is wanting more air. IOW, you need to open the throttle blades by turning the screw in. Rev and recheck. Target is 20-30 counts. If it is 0 counts, you need to turn the screw out. Trick is, if you can't turn the screw out anymore and the blades are closed as far as they can go, you are getting air in somewhere and that means a leak.
