Default Head light problem

the passenger side headlight only goes up halfway. Popping and making noise. I pulled it out and checked the plastic gear and the 3 bushings and they looked ok. Nothing looked stripped. What could it be? Could they be bad and I just can’t tell by looking at it? Thanks in advance.

Is it possible that they aren't lined up right or maybe they are dragging?

The teeth on the gears are lined up correctly. If I push the light to help it turn it will open all the way but won’t do it by itself. Will new gears fix it? I just don’t want to buy them if I don’t know that is the problem.

I wonder if it is sensing that it hit the limit because of some resistance, either by the headlight itself or that the motor is wearing out and telling the module it has reached the end of travel?

I thought mine were OK till I replaced them with the bronze gear. Later on I saw hairline cracking on the plastic

Check that it's not hitting some or other below. I had that happen when my hood support bracket got a little bent.

Note: don't take one screw out of the bracket and ignore for a couple of months.
