That was just because I was in the area and could have knocked (ha) it. The car did not have the CE before I replaced the starter.
I will be working through the flowchart now that I've confirmed that I didn't break the knock sensor/cable.

Not yet, though when I check their website it seems to be a mess. I select my car, search starter and of the ten starters that appear, four of them could not possibly work, while the one I was given says that it only "may fit" by vehicle.

When I search the first number you gave me, 1998400,
I find this: https://www.napaonline.com/en/search...rm-interchange
At the bottom of that page, I can see the P/N I got, NAE 76016.

Thanks, I think I found it Same place on the 84.

I'll double check and make sure I have 42. I'd like to think I can count to 5, but some days...

I did find the set timing connector on the driver side, black/brown cable. I unplugged/plugged it and saw no difference (disconnected the battery inbetween).

My next steps are:
  1. Confirm CE 42
  2. Check set timing connector/wire.
  3. Work through correct flowchart, depending on the code I find.

Thanks for all the help guys, hopefully I/we can solve this soon

Well I went to check the code tonight. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes before, just to make sure it wasn't a hold over. I also disconnected, checked the impedance and reconnected the set timing cable (before reconnecting the battery).

No codes.

I have no idea what I did to cause or to fix the code.
I fully expect it to come back as soon as all four tires are on the ground again, just because.
