I did new rotors and pads. Why are the pads only contacting the top of the rotor? These are the Eradispeed rotors. After a test ride, I see only the outer edge, about 3/4 to an inch contacting the pads. What gives?
Same thing to my 88, they will be fully contact after you drive the car a while. Many miles, not just a few miles. Take the wheel off and inspect the brake after 500 miles to amke sure everything working correctly.

That certianly does not seem normal to me. I have no experience with eradispeed but I would think there should be full contact from the pads to the rotor from day one. Waiting several hundred miles for the pad wear in before coming into full contact with the rotor just doesn't seem right.

 When you installed the new pads, did you use your channelocks to firmly and squarely seat the pads in the caliper/piston?
If not, they will probably eventually square up

Ps The full pad surface should be in contact with the rotor surface
There's a quick, simple solution. Bed in your pads. Take your car out in the evening (there are two reasons for this ;) ) and find a stretch of road, like big industrial park that you can do a number of progressively higher speed slow downs. (just prior to a stop) You start off at 40, then 50, 60, 70. Drive the car for fifteen minutes in an area that will not require you to use your brakes. Once they are cooled down, park the car overnight. NO E-brake. If they are regular street pads, you're done. If they are real race pads, do the same drill the next night. They will last a lot longer regardless of whether or not bedding is required.

I thought I squared them up well. Hopefully they'll square themselves soon. I have only driven for less than 30 minutes since replacing.
