85 surging idle when at a stop
driving around enjoying the weather, came to a stop and idle was surging form 6100-4800, gave it a little gas and smoothed right out...What the hell is going on?

Are you sure about those numbers? That's turning faster than the engine should. Could it have only been the tach reading?

Yeah, it sounds like a throttle blade hanging up. The "tap of the gas" and clearing it up is your give away. There is NO vacuum leak that will cause a near WOT situation then clear itself to normal.
Time to clean out your TB. Cleaner, rags and beer. 15 minutes and you are good to go.

My thought was if the blade is "hanging" was to leave everything in place and use a little cleaner and a rag and clean as much of the bores, blades, crevices....etc as you can. Super quick (hence the 15 minutes) and SHOULD get the blade free.

You are correct if you want to disassemble the whole thing--- which is doing it the "right" way.
