wouldn't start
Today I was coming home from school and I stopped to get something to eat and when I came out the vette wouldn't start. All the accessories came on but not even a sound from the engine. So i checked the key made sure I had the clutch in and gave it another try and again nothing. Then i just sat there and talked to it a while, begging it to start and then i just decided to try it one more time, it cranked up like nothing was ever wrong. Well now I am totally confused :confused: and am worried about this happening again. Has this ever happened to anyone, it is a 94'

Power gets to the starter solenoid through the ign sw start position, then through the start enable relay (incorrect pellet, or no connection to the pellet and the relay doesn't close), then through the clutch safety switch, then to the start solenoid terminal on the starter motor. You can jump the clutch switch next time it happens to verify the clutch sw is dying. If the clutch switch is dying, then you should also be able to hear the start enable relay click when you turn the ign sw. This relay is behind the center of the dash. If no click, then you can check if the contacts in the ign sw are making with the pellet by unplugging the 2 pin connector from the steering column and measuring the ohms on the wires from the column. The resistance should be the same as the pellet . If over 10k, then you need a new ign sw. You can fool VATS until you can get the new ign sw installed by clipping a resistor onto the wires going over to the passenger side (from the 2 pin connector) the same value as your pellet. You might also take your spare ign key with you and try it as its pellect contacts are not as worn as your everyday key.
