Door Jamb Switch
Hey guys, new to the forum here & I guess this is officially my first question. Since I bought this car a couple of months ago I’ve been gradually fixing little things that weren’t working. Today’s project was to get the courtesy lights to come on when the doors are opened. Shortly after I bought it I noticed that the door jamb switches were missing from both sides, the driver side had the wire poking through the hole & was taped up (apparently to keep it from going back into the hole). I ordered two new switches & grommets last week & they showed up yesterday. Ok, so I replaced the driver side & now the lights & chime work fine. The problem is the passenger side has no wire sticking through the hole & Im assuming it’s fallen back through. How can I access this area to recover the wire?

You mention 'grommet' so I'm guessing '89 or earlier car and the switch is in the jamb @ the hinge post. If that's the case it will be an interesting challenge. Perhaps a fiber optic viewer to maybe view through the hole? You know what the connector looked like from the LH side so that I'd think an advantage.
Door ajar switches in the door are more straight forward.
You might mention year and location of the switch you're replacing, in hinge pillar like I mentioned or in the door at the rear.

Yeah, mine has the door jamb switch which controls the lights, chime, & I think the alarm. Then it has a separate switch that's actually on the door that operates the "door ajar" light. I'll post a pic of the hole in the jamb a little later. P.S. it is an '89.

This image I don't believe is in all year FSM but I'd expect routing similar to this so it may not be that difficult a task. The wires coming out of the conduit are likely LT BLUE & YELLOW (maybe WHITE).
