Roller Cam Question...
The Vette is the first car I've owned that had a roller cam. So I'm a little in the dark about something. I know with a non-roller cam if you have too much spring pressure that you can end up whiping a cam lobe.
In in the process of putting a new motor together for the Vette. I purchased a LT4 Hotcam Kit, and a used set of Canfield heads straight out the machine shop. Now I was told when I bought the heads that the springs in them now were new and were setup to handle up to a .600 lift cam. Obvisouly this a little more than what the HotCam is. My question is if these springs will be ok with the HotCam or if I need to go ahead and swap them out for the springs that cam in the HotCam kit that I bought.
Thanks in advance for any info.
It sounds like the current springs are double with dampers which will exert quite a lot of pressure. Find out what is the seat pressue and pressure at max lift with your new cam.
Then compare the springs rated for the new cam with those now in the heads and change if necessary.
