Match the Replacement with wire Gauge with the original including Length +-, the wire gauge has to be the same it is a fuse. If you have enough of the Old broken off to reach your points and it's not Fried you may be able to reuse it. Whether you replace or Reuse NO CHEAP BUTT CONNECTORS
I prefer to Crimp a Splice Collar, Soldier & Shrink Wrap (the kind that Oozes Sealant) But others have Voiced they Like and use the crimp and Shrink Connectors. I also would Zip Tie the old Splice Point to your repair So in Future you have a Gauge Reference

I understand their importance but are there any updated versions that I could use instead?
I'm not Sure if there is a Newer Style of Fusible Link. I have only replaced 3 in 35 years 1 in my Camaro in High School 1 in a over the Road truck in the 80's and 1 in a 85 Vette after a crash when I was at the Dealership.
