Yes as mod I know this should be in tires/rims but I need it answered within an hour.
I had a blowout today at lunch on my 85. Put on the spare and it blew out too (dry rotted) so now my car is at the tire shop with no tire since this size has to be ordered. Will the spare off my ruby work with the 85 to drive it home about 2 miles town? If not it will have to be towed :(
Yes it will work for the very short trip....the ruby spare is a 17 and the 85 is a 16 so just go the 2 miles and not any more than you absloutely have too.
I believe the spares are the same size; certainly the bolt patterns should line up and there will be enough rotor clearance.
Anyway take the spare and give it a try.
Or, maybe the tire shop has a tire to fit the '85 spare rim; looks doesn't matter since it's in the carrier anyway.
I already asked about the spare they said they didn't have on that would fit :(

Thanks Lee, I'll keep it slow too. Once I get the new tires in I can drive to a closer tire shop (about 1/4 mile) and have them install all 4 new.
The size of the normal tires are about the same (roughly 26" IIRC), my 87's tire (255/50/16) is about 1/2" taller then my folks 88 (275/40/17).
You shouldnt have any problems at all. Especially with only being 2 miles.
Can also check to see if the tire shop has any used tires as a temp solution. If the 85 is a 8.5" rim then a 225 should fit, ratio who really cares as long as its close.
The circumference of these 2 differs by only 0.0124" so I feel comfortable in saying that the spare off your Ruby should work fine (provided that it is in good working order.)
Sorry to hear Jenn. Hope you get it all worked out. As far as the spare is concerned, like stated above, the rolling diameter should be close enough for a short trip.
