This thing about the key being hard to turn, is that new?
Hard to believe a new radio broke the ignition cylinder or the ignition switch... do these cars have an ignition switch?. Anyway, even if you left the ignition on to supply power during radio installation, it should still be OK. Not sure what to say. Hope other will chime in. Good luck.

There is a Ignition switch on the lower Steering Colume that is your main Power Distribution source, If is gummed up/Burned out could be your High Effort Luckily they are cheap and common at parts store.
You could start by pulling it and see if the Effort in turning of the key goes away. and with the switch in hand do some testing.
If there a problem with the Ignition Cylinder and the slide rod it to is Cheap again about 15/20 Dollars being a Non-Vat's System
