Default Opinions/Experience with DB Electrical Alternator?

1989 ZF6. Original unit tested bad. I've got the standard options of 105 amp Alts from Advance, O'reilly, etc. All of them are remanu. units. Found a company called DB Electrical that sells exact fit NEW 105 amp units for $70 shipped. This is not a case of being cheap, just curious if this little company makes quality products and just never hit the big national markets. Comes with a year warranty. I don't need a huge alt, I don't have any extra electrics or fans pulling more amps over stock.

Ive never heard of the company, but 70 bucks sounds like trouble to me. Buy an ac delco reman if you have to depend on the car.

I purchased a replacement alternator for my GL1500 from them and it has worked flawlessly for two years......

DB is actually quite reputable

We've bought some starters for Kawasaki FR, FS and FV engines with no issues.

If your current is an OE/GM original I'd likely just do a rebuild/repair of it vs a purchase. I don't believe I'd have an issue with a buy from them. I'd do their 'new' before an ACD reman for nearly everything.

I'd be tempted to do it for that price. I'd keep the old one Just in Case you ever sell the car, a buyer may want it.

That's one of the problems we all encounter - finding parts once they've been discontinued by the mfg.

I popped for the new DB 105 amp and installed it last night. I'll keep the old unit as backup and rebuild if something should fail. For the price, i'm quite impressed. Came spotless and with a test sheet that matched the number on the actual alt, so it wasn't a generic sheet

I wouldn't expect issues but YMMV - every damn thing there is has a 'failure rate' - we all just hope that our purchase has better than maybe expected by most.
