Having issues removing A pillar and windshield weatherstripping
This job looked pretty straight forward on you tube so I dove right in. Got the pins out from the bottoms and corners was able to separate the weatherstripping on the a pillar cleanly. The piece running along the windshield not so much. I managed to rip the whole thing off from the part jammed under the lip. I sprayed the whole thing down with adhesive remover, which turned out to be a huge mistake. Now I'm stuck with the edge caught under the lip and nothing to grab on to as the adhesive remover ruined the integrity of the remaining foam. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this out of there?
I made me a tool to scrape the glued weather strip out of the channel out of a old wood chisel. I ground it down to fit in the channel and sharpened it.
It just took a lot of time and elbow grease to get the old pieces out. I just put a small bead of adhesive in the bottom of the channel when I reinstalled the new so whoever has to do this job will not have this problem.

Just finished mine on my 92 and after pulling pieces apart,ended up using a wide screwdriver and then a Dremel with wire brush. I finished up cleaning the channels with a dental pic which worked great. Like previous poster I installed new without adhesive except for little at corners, Raised windows,put top back on and let sit and it all is good.. Good luck its a PITA
work work work work work. removing that stuff is a pita but can be accomplished. I used a couple of tool steel blanks and a dental pick, took time, but it all came out.
Also they make metal and plastic j hook tools that tun under the lip to remove the material there. A long hose shop vac keeps most of this out of the interior as your remove it.
