Default Rocker arm fitment help

Hi all I am in the middle of a cam swap in my 93. so I have the composite valve covers. I purchased the Lunati Voodoo 1.6 S/A roller rockers. has anyone installed these with stock covers? I heard about trimming covers which I have no problem with. just would like to know exactly what to trim. one cover has small nipples on them the other does not. am I cutting them or the support veins? I am not looking for other rocker suggestions. I just want to know the trimming process. I don't like the Cantons and not aware of anything aftermarket that works on the LT1. I appreciate all input. attached pictures of VC and my rockers. also some mentioned rockers may hit the VC mounting bolts. I doubt this as they were recommended by Lloyd Elliott and he is a big LT1 guy.

If you look inside the valve cover, you should see tabs abut 1/8" thick 1/2 wide and about 1/2-3/4" long. I believe there is a taper to them also. The shape of after market roller rockers will strike these tabs You need to take a Dremil with a small cut off wheel and cut these off you can also grind them off. You need to get these tabs ground off flush to the underside of the covers.

You still might have an issue with clearance of the cover. There are a couple of options. You can buy a thicker valve cover gasket or perhaps glue two gaskets together to lift the cover higher off the head. You will find that the exhaust valves usually have a higher lift than the intake valves. The rocker arm at the push rod end is the part that will kiss the VC. There is usually enough meat on the rocker arm that you can sand a 45 degree angle on the end of the rocker and this will help the clearance. You only need to sand off abut 1/8" perhaps a little more. If you do decide to sand the ends down, wrap the entire rocker in masking take to keep the metal grit out of the bearings.

Default Thanks

Thanks for clarifying. Hopefully doesn't resort to sanding my new "balanced" $300 rockers lol. I think I'll swap vc to Cantons if that is the case. Even though I'm not a fan. But thanks for the clearest answer I received.

If you really want after market vc and don't mind spending the $$ that's o.k. But, the tabs are very easily removable with a Dremel and cutting disc. Mine vc haven't leaked in 1 1/2 years since I removed the tabs. I used the money saved to buy new gears for the diff.

Yea I really DON'T want different vc. Only if it meant altering Rocker arms. I did 3.54's and 2800 stall converter. Really woke it up from 2.59's. Gained a whole second off my 1/4 mi. ET. And only lost 8% hp through drive train. 278 whp and 336 torque
