Default Rear Wheel Bearing Question

Hi,
I used to have an 84 that had a lot of play in a rear whell and i remember the bearing being able to be tightened. I had this done and it was fine for the rest of the time i had the car. I amhave the transmission on my 91 rebuilt and wheni went to the shop friday i took a look under the car while it was on the lift. There is excessive play in the drivers side rear wheel back and forth. Can this be tightened like the 84 was or does it need a new bearing. All of the wheels have a TINY amount pf play but this particular wheel can be moved much more than the others which all seem the same. Another problem, the car was flawless for months and now i guess when it rains it pours. Can this be adjusted and how? I did it a while ago and don't remember. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

On 84 and up cars, the only way a wheel bearing can be tightened is IF one of the bolts are loose.Maybe the 36MM axle nut needs tightening.I would have all the bolts and axle nuts checked on the bearings. If its still loose, you need to replace the bearing. But be sure its not the suspension moving or the rear camber rods or something else.
The 84 and up cars all have the same basic wheel bearing idea so its basically the same as your 91,a sealed unit.

Good Luck and give the bearing a close look over. These sealed units have been known to come apart in half at times.
