Default 1990 Transmission sump bolt sheared

1990 Transmission sump bolt sheared, when changing filter and fluid. Any suggestions on how to remove it? Also where can I get a replacement bolt and what size is it?

Bolt is M8x1.25x20 - the OE is pretty damn hard. The head should be maybe marked 9.8. Is it in one of the locations that's a pass through and easily accessible top of the pan rail? Most are. Original would have a captive 'free spinning conical' washer on it.

Should be easily sourced. Correct GM is likely expensive. Visit a shop!

First, spray it with PB. Then put some ATF/acetone mix on it. Then melt a candle on it. Then do a ritualistic dance....

Just kidding. Go right to what works; get a MIG welder, clean it up good, weld a nut onto what's left of the bolt....remove.

There were millions of these trannys made over the years. Any tranny shop will have a bunch of these bolts lying around. Bring one of your good bolts to a tranny shop and they should give you a bolt or at most charge you a buck or two. If you're in the Bay Area, I've got a bunch of them.
