Heater won't work sometimes
About half the time that I try to turn on the heater, it blows AC air out. (89 climate control). The other half the time, it works fine. Since it is AC air and not just outside air, I think its more of a problem with the climate control unit or the interior temp sensor, not the heater core or a vacuum leak. It is showing 49 degrees outside air all the time since I got it back from the tranny rebuild a year ago. Maybe they messed it up somehow. I flushed the radiator, and took off the hose on the throttle body after refilling to make sure it doesn't have any air in the system. Didn't work. Any suggestions as to what might be causing my problem, and if it might be the climate control unit or interior temp sensor, how should I check these. I already took apart the climate control unit and cleaned the contacts, buttons etc. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the outside temp reading, but maybe the AC programmer needs some soldering. My heat became intermittent, and then went out due to a couple of big resistors on the AC programmer that needed to be resoldered. This board is located under the dash above the accelerator on the firewall. It is in a black box with wires and vacuum lines. Resolder the two big resistors on the corner of the board. Make sure to note the postions of the vacuum lines inside because not all the colors match up. Hope this helps.
