Static radio stations?
Just installed my factory radio in my 91 and I can't hear the stations very well, mainly static in the background. If I play a tape I can hear it perfect on all speakers. What are the potential causes for this? Thanks.

Did you get a good connection for the antenna? Other than that, every factory radio I had in a C4 has really sucked as far as reception. Unless the station is very close in proximity, there was always static to some degree. CD's and tapes, no problem....

Not sure, but every ground (4) is grounded. The antenna works, all the lights on the radio work. Only some stations sound ok, but all the rest which I like are mainly static.

Does the antenna go up to the full height? The best antenna height for FM reception is supposed to be 31 inches. Depending on your surroundings, some FM stations may not be heard. Lots of trees, mountains, tall buildings, and weather conditions can hurt FM reception. The output of the station transmitter is also a factor.
The antenna should have sort of "ground plane". They could be wires coming off the antenna base, but they need to have a good ground. Also check the connector on the end of the cable where it goes into the radio. It should be tight and free of any corrosion.

It's at about 30 inches. All four grounds that I found are connected. There's certain spots where you can hear the radio clearly. I can stay in those spots and it'll sound good. Also not sure if the antenna is sitting at a proper height.
