Default Checking Tranny fluid is an 84...

For the life of me I cannot remember what gear the car is suppose to be in to check the transmission fluid level - Park or Neutral?

Secondly, I also can't remember if the car needs to be up to temp before checking the fluid level. I would assume there would be a "Cold" and "Hot" marker on the dip stick.

I also don't know what difference it makes which of the two gears the car is when checking the fluid level.

Sorry for the question, just need to refresh my memory. Thanks.

Here you go. Neutral or park. Operating temperature and on level surface.
