I hope someone out there can help me. I have a 94 vert with 56K. It's the love of my life (next to the kids and wife of course :blueangel: )
When I start driving to or from work all systems are go and working fine. Then I come to a stop light, the light goes green and I take off. But it's slluggish as all get out. And when it does get going, about 60mph, it's at 3k rpm.
After many stop and go experiments, I conclude that the tranny is stuck in drive. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a gear head. So when I think of taking the car to a shop, I just want to :U
The fact that the problem comes and goes leads me to believe that it's a short in a sensor, or something of an electrical issue.
my other car ( a dodge) had a similar problem. I was all set to get cleaned out by the tranny shop , but they checked it out first and found a faulty speed or shift sensor. $200 parts and labor.
good luck
BTW, a faulty sensor should send a code to the ecm. try to pull them first.
I had the same problem with my 94. It turned out that the connector into the computer was loose. Actually, a small pebble had lodged between the connector.
