Default 1996 LT4 Nit-Picking

I'm not usually one for nit-picking but, I was reading an "Operations and Performance Verification Test Manual" for the 1996 Corvette and found an interesting specification. There is supposed to be a redline of 5500 RPM for the 1996 LT1 with a fuel injection shutoff of 5850 RPM. That's 350 RPM above redline for the LT1 and would seem to be sensible. The same chart shows a 6400 RPM redline for the 1996 LT4 but with the same 5850 RPM fuel injection shutoff.
Is this correct, that the LT4 will hit fuel shutoff 550 RPMs prior to the redline? Has anyone revved an LT4 high enough to hit the fuel shutoff and if yes, what RPM was it set at?

That has to be an error in the manual. My LT4 would definitely rev to redline when it was stock.

Have you tried nit-picking your '84 FSM? You'll need a big bucket for all your nits! But what would you expect on an all-new first year design? I give the engineers and tech writers credit for getting so much right, rather than faulting them for what they missed. That must have been a chaotic time at Bowling Green!

back then, so much stuff got released with ‘bugs’ .

be it a computer, car or whatever. If it was something new and unique it was also insane expensive compared to avg salary vs today.

and you didnt have the internet discussion forums to figure out the bugs....

some stuff was run better (ex. The government) but yeah you were screwed on consumer products back then !!!

The 1984 FSM is long gone, along with the 1984 Cross-Fire. I just kept the handle. Not sure where the subject chart originated, just seemed strange the fuel might cut off prior to the rated red line which I think is correct.

It was a mistake in the published material. I can tell you for a fact that the PCM in a stock LT4 is programmed to cut off fuel at 6411rpm. That is the setting in the stock calibration if you download it into Jet DST.
