Default An L98 coolant temp sensor question.

I am running both sensors right now, but I have been told you only need one, and the one that people seem to say is the sensor you need seems to be the opposite on my car.
When I originally installed the miniram I tried going with just the ECT (the smaller 2 pronged sensor) and the fans wouldn't kick on nor would the coolant temp. display readout. Then I ran it with the other sensor (the one with the injector style plug) and everything worked, but I threw a code. I assumed this was an EGR code, but I didn't have a scanner at the time.
So now I have both connected, but would prefer to delete one as it has been spliced into my heater lines, and my new computer programming should take care of any EGR codes. I just wanted to see if anyone had a definate answer on this before I have to drain the coolant again just to doublecheck. Because from what it seems people are saying is that I should be able to toss the larger sensor (the one with the injector style plug), but from past experience this wouldn't seem to be the case.
Thanks.

A work around would be to install the 2-prong sensor up front to keep the ECM happy and wire the aux fan sw to control both fan relays (method in C4 Tech Tips). But then you won't have the display.

You could try to put a T into the intake base and use both sensors.

Can you just drill & tap a hole for the other coolant temp sensor?

Sounds like I do need more than 1 of the coolant sensor to keep all functions then?

Actually now that I have removed the AIR equiptment I may have enough room to put in a "T". I think I will give this a try. Thanks.
